About us

How we started?
Every school has the responsibility to protect and promote the right of every Filipino youth including the right to be educated. With the advent of technology, the youth of today need to be equipped especially with 21st century skills for them to become globally competent.
Cabacungan NHS-Masulog Extension is one with the Department of Education’s mission in engaging and sharing responsibility for developing life-long learners. With this, the school dreamt of being one of the pioneering schools to offer the Senior High School program despite the difficulties and limited resources. The school knew from the beginning that venturing into this program have limited possibilities and with little to no assurance of success. But the school braved all the storms in order to cater the needs of the students and to bring changes in the community. Since majority of the students and their families are below the poverty line, if not on the line, it has become very challenging for the community to send their children to a higher education institution. Parents have the limited resources to sustain the daily needs of the family, so much more as to provide for the expenses of their children if they send them to schools outside of the community where they will have to pay for their daily fare from home to school and vice versa.
Way back 2015, series of seminars, trainings, meetings and discussions were conducted by the Division office, sponsored by DepEd. A lot of important things were articulated and different areas that could affect learners, teachers, school head, and stakeholders were taken into consideration. Data were gathered in preparation for offering the Senior High School Program such as: survey of learners’ interests, enrolment rates, and availability of teachers, classrooms, equipment, and facilities.
The school then decided to offer the TVL Track with strand on Bread and Pastry, Food and Beverages paired with Cookery due to the availability of baking equipment donated by the LGU of La Castellana. Donations of two gas range from Gov. Alfredo Marañon and Hon. Rhumyla G. Nicor-Mangilimutan were added to the equipment. The barangay captain of Brgy. Masulog, Hon. Nolito G. Alojepan, also supported the school by providing financial support which was utilized in purchasing different tools needed for the implementation. Aside from these, there was also an availability of teachers who are qualified to teach and train the students with necessary skills.
By God’s grace, the school was able to achieve its dream of being one of the pioneering schools that offered the Senior High School Program on the TVL track with the strand Bread and Pastry and Food and Beverages. The first batch of SHS students started class at June 2016 with the four newly-constructed classrooms ready for use and 3 items for SHS teachers were given.
The school is so grateful and blessed that in April 2018, we were able to produce 56 graduates where 49 of them took the TESDA assessment for NCII and all of them passed with flying colors. The 100% passing rate from the assessment made a name for the school which continued to be so in the second batch of SHS graduates. Out of the 50 graduates, 38 of them took the assessment, along with 2 Grade 11 students, and a 100% passing rate was then again achieved.
The school will continue its mission to provide quality education to the community most especially to the less fortunate. With the support we are getting from the government and community we are inspired to strive harder to educate young minds to become responsible and value-laden individuals.
